1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Sniplex collects, uses, stores, and discloses information when you use the service to create, view, manage, and share text, code, and image content.

In this policy, "Sniplex," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of the Sniplex service. This policy covers both visitors who use the public sharing features and registered users who create accounts, manage shares, or subscribe to paid features.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created as part of share activity, and limited technical data needed to run and secure the service.

  • Account information such as your email address, password hash, profile details, avatar, username, and account preferences when you register or update your account.
  • Share content and share metadata, including titles, text or code content, uploaded images, custom slugs, selected language, tags, category, visibility setting, expiry setting, and whether a share is password protected or encrypted.
  • Security and access data such as hashed share passwords, encrypted content for text shares when encryption is enabled, login sessions, verification codes, reset tokens, and related timestamps.
  • Interaction data such as views, favourites, reactions, comments, and user reports submitted through the service.
  • Billing and subscription data such as Stripe customer or subscription identifiers, invoice records, plan selections, billing contact details, and payment-related status information.
  • Support, administrative, and service communication data such as emails, notifications, audit records, and operational logs generated when the service sends or records important account or billing events.
  • Basic technical data such as IP-related request metadata, browser or device information, and essential cookies or similar storage used to keep the service working securely.

3. How share visibility affects your information

Sniplex lets you create public, unlisted, and private shares, and that choice changes who can access the content you submit.

  • Public shares may appear in public areas such as the archive and are intended to be discoverable by other users or visitors.
  • Unlisted shares are not listed publicly, but anyone with the link can access them unless additional protections such as a password apply.
  • Private shares are intended to be accessible only to the share owner while signed in.
  • If you add password protection, access is restricted until the correct password is provided, but password protection alone does not necessarily mean the stored content is encrypted at rest.
  • If you enable text encryption, the stored text content is encrypted and requires the share password to decrypt it.

4. How we use information

  • To create and host shares, deliver share pages, and serve uploaded images according to the visibility and access settings you choose.
  • To authenticate users, protect accounts, verify requests, manage sessions, and prevent abuse or unauthorized access.
  • To operate share features such as expiries, destroy-after-view behaviour, comments, reactions, favourites, reporting, and moderation or administrative actions.
  • To process subscriptions, payment-method setup, invoices, taxes, renewals, cancellations, and related billing support.
  • To send account, security, billing, and operational communications.
  • To troubleshoot the service, monitor reliability, enforce our Terms of Service, and improve the product over time.

5. Service providers and integrations

Sniplex relies on third-party providers for parts of the service. Depending on how your instance is configured, those providers may process limited information on our behalf.

  • Stripe is used for subscription billing, payment-method setup, and invoice-related workflows.
  • Object storage providers are used to store uploaded assets such as share images, avatars, notification images, and billing logos.
  • Email and messaging providers may be used to send verification, security, account, billing, or operational notices.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers process technical traffic and storage needed to run the application.

6. When we disclose information

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose information only when needed to operate the service, honour your chosen sharing settings, comply with law, or protect the service and its users.

  • To other users or visitors when you intentionally publish or share content through public or unlisted links.
  • To service providers that support storage, billing, communications, security, and infrastructure operations.
  • To administrators or authorized personnel who need access to provide support, investigate misuse, manage billing, or maintain the service.
  • When required by law, regulation, court order, or lawful government request.
  • When necessary to detect, prevent, or respond to fraud, security incidents, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as it is needed to operate the service, maintain security, meet billing or legal obligations, and support the sharing features you use.

  • Shares remain available until they expire, are destroyed after view, are deleted by you or an administrator, or are otherwise removed under the service rules.
  • Expired shares and related stored assets may be cleaned up automatically by the service.
  • Account and billing records may be retained longer than individual shares where needed for security, abuse prevention, invoicing, tax, or audit purposes.
  • If account deletion features are used, some records may remain for a limited period or where continued retention is necessary for legal, security, or operational reasons.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information handled by Sniplex.

  • Account passwords and share passwords are stored as hashes rather than in plain text.
  • Text share content can be encrypted at rest when you choose the encryption option for a share.
  • Private-share access is restricted based on account ownership, and password-protected access relies on the correct share password being provided.
  • No method of transmission, storage, or security control is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices

  • You can choose whether to create public, unlisted, or private shares and whether to apply passwords, encryption, custom slugs, or expiry settings where available.
  • You can edit or remove account information that the service allows you to manage directly.
  • You can cancel subscriptions or manage billing details through the billing flows made available in the service.
  • You can choose not to submit content to the service, but some features cannot work without the related information.

10. Children

Sniplex is not intended for young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version in the service and update the last-updated date on this page. Your continued use of the service after an update becomes effective means the updated policy applies to your continued use.
